An interesting phenomenon was introduced to a mass audience early in the previous century by Napoleon Hill.
He learned from his research among successful men, yes, they were all men, mostly industrialists like Henry Ford and Andrew Carnegie, of the power of the ‘Master Mind’.
It seems that these successful men noticed another entity was created when two or more of them met for a single purpose – in their cases, that purpose was usually success.
What he called the “master mind alliance” was introduced by Hill in his book published in the 1920s, ‘The Law of Success’, and expanded upon in his 1937 book, ‘Think And Grow Rich’.
I think this is interesting to observe the 1+1=3 phenomenon in our everyday lives.
Or contemplate its potential.
Like a Group Soul is being formed, if only temporarily.
Truth is, mastermind groups have been around since the beginning of time.
Even Benjamin Franklin belonged to such a group, which he called a Junto.
Napoleon Hill explained it as “The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.”
And that “No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind [the master mind].”
There is no need for the members of a mastermind group to even be present.
And they can be famous people from the past, so you can include all of your heroes in your group and gather at any time of your choosing.
An incredible idea.
Why don’t you sit down now and make a list of all the people who ever lived you would like to mentor you – all at the same time.
Here is my current mastermind group (I only wish I had my life over again with nothing to do but get together with these significant people from the past and study their ideas):
- Mahatma Gandhi
- George Gurdjieff
- Jesus (without St Paul)
- Lao Tzu (the Tao Te Ching)
- The goddess Ma’at (Ancient Egypt)
- Benjamin Franklin
- Napoleon Hill
I’d be interested to learn about yours.
